Each of our lodges offers creative twists to your tailor make your child friendly family safari experience. Activities are both fascinating and entertaining, and are sure to enthral your children between the ages of 3 and 12 years of age immensely. With &Beyond’s exciting children's activities, Africa’s wilderness becomes a magical playground where going on safari has never been so thrilling and intriguing. Not all activities, however, are available at every lodge.
- A taste of what your children can look forward to include:
- Bug collecting, fishing trips, treasure hunts and frogging safaris
- Collecting dung and identifying spoor
- Creating moulds of animal tracks in the wild
- Finding their artistic side with drawing, painting, colouring and bead making sessions
- Becoming a mini ranger, assuming important duties like helping to wash safari vehicles in the staff village, in full ranger khaki’s of course!
- Baking and decorating cookies
- A fun and unique children’s menu that includes wild dog’s hot dogs, fish eagle’s favourite dish, python’s penne pasta, prickly porcupine’s pizza and plenty more imaginative and delicious treats!
- Making a pizza of their own in the boma
- Roasting marshmallows whilst listening to exciting fireside stories
- Bedtime stories which are placed in their rooms each night

Ngala Safari Lodge“Well, after 2 unforgettable nights at Kirkmans Kamp, we didn’t think life could get any better. Then we arrived at Ngala Safari Lodge. The accommodation was second to none, the service was absolutely fabulous and the game drives were wonderful. After dinner on the first night, David serenaded us with his Guitar and his wonderful singing as we sat in the guest area. Squirrels joined us for meals, they don’t care who gets in their way, they wanted food. After 2 nights at Ngala, we were certainly not ready to leave and the children shed a few tears when saying goodbye.”

Rambling Kruger“What an adventure! And how perfectly suited to our family too! As a family we were all able to explore such abundant wilderness areas in South Africa and had great fun as we not only saw, but learned so much about the Big 5 and other resident wildlife species. Game drives and nature walks were paired with just the right rangers and trackers for us. We learned so much and were completely amazed by their extensive knowledge and professional nature. “I would like to say thank you to all the staff Ngala for a fantastic stay. Elvis made my children a rope from freshly stripped bark. Daryl went on the bush walk and was shown how dye is retrieved from the bark of a tree.
The following day Jason was taught how to plait this bark to make a bracelet. Megan and Jason were so taken with the bush, the wild life, big and small, that they've decided that they're coming back when they're older. Jason of course is very keen to be a game ranger.”
